Today I’m both thrilled and honored to share with you all one of the most inspiring and creative companies I’ve come in contact with. Its not every day that you find a company quite like this.

The Nakate Project is a transnational jewelry company committed to empowering third world female artisans through jewelry design. They take the talented creations of these women and collaborate with United States designers to distribute an eco-friendly (and not to mention completely fabulous) line of jewelry. With the profits earned, the Nakate team is able to pay the African women more than twice of what they would normally receive in their country.  Before Nakate, in a sexist and poverty-stricken environment, the women involved struggled to pay their rent, send their children to school or much less, put food in their stomachs. Through this powerful organization, women are learning how to manage and make money, as well as provide for their families through truly outstanding hand-crafted jewelry. Now, if that isn’t a fantastic fashion cause, I don’t know what is!

The beads on their pieces are made from recycled paper and are incredibly versatile. For those of you (and I know there are tons) who love to stack bracelets and necklaces, I suggest you mosey on over to the Nakate Shop and check out what they have to offer. Oh, and did I mention they are giving my readers a 25% off coupon this week only? Simply enter “NakateandDevon” as your code. Plenty of reason to shop til’ you drop! After all, its for an amazing cause. So what are you waiting for?
