One of the reasons I love living in Los Angeles is the amazingly creative people I’m surrounded by. From musicians to designers, the creativity tends to flow like a river in this place.
I’ve been so lucky to meet and learn from some of these people (most of which are under the age of 30 and have pretty impressive resumes).
One person in particular has totally inspired me to be a better, well, everything. She’s one of my good friends that I’m so thankful for. A talented young business woman with a major gift in the fashion department. Enter in Shauna Miller. The visionary behind an impressive blog turned brand, Penny Chic, Shauna creates outfits, shares her finds, features other bloggers, and more– the catch? Everything is from Target, Walmart, Kmart, Sears, etc. She has mastered the art of being chic on a budget. And she makes it look really good.
Here’s the best part. After seeing the success of her fantastic blog, Walmart (yes, WALMART! HUGE!) approached the lovely Shauna with an idea. This idea would give her another hat to wear: designer. I am beyond proud of Shauna, both for her new Penny Chic line set to launch in a few days (February 15th) and to call her my friend! I’ll have another fun feature next week with one of her little black Penny Chic dresses for every size.
When Shauna invited me over to do a Penny Chic feature, I was thrilled. I wanted to get my paws on all the goodness I’d been seeing on her blog. In fact, I picked up most of the pieces I styled for this feature! I’m all about high and low mixing (as you guys know) so I knew this was right up my alley.
I flipped through the racks (and racks) of clothing and put together a few looks for her adorable/sweet/talented/amazing Momma Miller to photograph me. How amazing is this necklace? Forever 21. Man, I love saying that when people ask me. Mostly because of their reaction. Isn’t it the best?
It was such a pleasure to work with Shauna on this great feature. I’m so blessed to have her in my life and cannot wait to see what the future holds for this talented young woman. Check out her blog and Penny Chic line launching February 15th on Walmart.com!
