How To Create A Metallic Smoky Eye

You may not know this about me, but I grew up performing on stage (I know, shocker). I’ve always loved entertaining a crowd, and for the majority of my childhood I danced my little toosh off, which lead to wearing makeup at a very young age. Don’t worry; I was no Toddler in a Tiara. I did develop a love of doing my own makeup—especially my eye shadow.
I don’t usually blog about makeup, but I’m feeling compelled with all the fabulous metallic shades out this season. Today I’ll take you step by step on my smoky eye journey.

Jacket + Eye Shadow by Target

A great makeup artist told me that you should always start
with your eyes—this allows you to wipe away that excess shadow under the eyes
before adding foundation.
  • I always start with a base primer on my eyes to hold the
fabulous-ness all day (and night if you’re frisky).
  • Always add the light highlight
shadow under your eyebrows before starting with the lid.
  • Sweep the metallic shade (I chose
a gorgeous metallic rust color) over the lid of your eye with a flat eye shadow
    brush.
  • Use a clean blending brush to
blend out from your eyelid to the crease. Make sure the blending brush is
completely shadow free. A smoky eye can get messy and you definitely want to
steer away from the “I just got punched in the face” look. A black eye is so not
    chic.

Once you get the hang of it, a smoky eye is a lot less
intimidating. I hope my tips helped! Be sure to check out Target’s awesome
selection of metallic shades for your face or your nails!
