Important Lessons Learned + Exciting News

First of all, I’m sorry for being M.I.A. the past few days! It
always takes me a few days to adjust once I’ve returned from a two-week trip in
Dallas. I wanted to share some exciting news and projects I have coming this
year as well as some things I’ve learned about myself along the way. Let’s just
get one thing straight, I’m far from perfect and I’m the kind of person
who will let you see my not-so-great sides, hoping others can learn from
my trials. I’m all about motivating others to see the fabulous person in the
mirror and this year you’ll see a lot more of it!

2013 was a crazy year for me professionally and personally (those
two definitely overlap a lot). I started working full time here at Devon Rachel
and I have to say it’s been the most amazing learning experience. I’m pretty
fresh out of college (within the last few years) so it’s definitely been a
challenge making the transition from student to business owner. I’m a hands on
learner and I’ve realized that all I can do is give it all I got, learn as I
go, and research as much as possible. To those of you who are having trouble
organizing your work life (no matter what industry) or becoming your own boss,
one piece of advice: have patience. Nothing worth having comes over night. It
takes a lot of hard work. Every ounce of my business is a product of my
extremely hard work. Things haven’t come easy for me. I’ll be speaking more on
the topic of owning a business this year.

This year I really, really need to get organized.
Organization in your life and especially in your business should
be a priority. I’m not talking about OCD crazy organization, but getting
organized enough to have systems in place. I know this sounds crazy, but I’m
sure some of you can relate. I live in a one-bedroom apartment with little to
no storage (oh, and I work here). After several years of living in a small
space, I’ve grown accustomed to not having the room to give each ‘thing’ a
‘place’. And I’m now used to re-organizing multiple times a year. This isn’t
okay! I vow to make a change this year! Starting with my closet + spare rack. I
spent this past weekend organizing my closet and it’s amazing what an organized
closet can do to a girl. I don’t have the biggest closet, so I’m getting
creative with the organizing. The container store has so many great options by the way. I found these adorable striped bins for purses/accessories/jeans in my closet. They are amazing and easy on the eye. I’ll share more organizing tips soon!
Here’s some products I use to organize myself:

Some exciting news for this year…
I’m teaming up with Philosophy for an exciting project and I’ll
be able to share more next week!
So many of you have asked for more video content. I’ve been
working on this over the past few months and I’m excited to announce that I’ll
be doing one video a week starting very soon. I’ll cover fashion, home and
life/motivating tips to help you life the most stylish life possible. I’ll also
be taking your suggestions on video topics, so feel free to leave your comments
below! 🙂

I’m getting married! Many of you ask what I’ll be doing after that. Stay tuned next week for more details 🙂
