The moment I saw this fringe sweater on Nasty Gal, I was obsessed. Obviously, it was easy to love because of the amazing price, but I was a tad worried about how bulky it would be. When the package came and I tried on, I was pleasantly surprised.
Yes, the sweater is a tad bulky, but it is definitely wearable if paired with the correct pieces. This lead me to thinking about how many of my friends (and most of us ladies, let’s be honest) freak out and spend an hour or more in a dressing room going back and forth between, ‘do I look fat? do I not?”. Why are we so crazy about this?! What happened to rocking what you got and working with “what Yo Mama gave ya”?
As someone who lives for fashion and isn’t 3.5 lbs, I enjoy testing out different ways to wear trends for real body types. I want to help make sure you’re not the girl in the dressing room for an hour, over analyzing every inch of your body.
Confidence is the hottest look you can wear, so it’s important to remember that.
When it comes to bulky pieces, it’s all about what you wear with it. My tips? In the case of bulky pieces, opt for more streamlined, fitting options everywhere else. I paired my skinny black J Brand (favorite) jeans with a form fitting long grey tee that hits my thigh in my most flattering area and kept the leg line long with a black bootie. Another great option would have been a slim LBD, or a great blouse tucked in to high waisted wide leg pants. And of course the oldest trick in the book is an option: belt it, girl! Throwing on a belt with bulky pieces is a classic way to show your shape. See? There are much more options than you thought!
Do you have this fear of adding too much bulk with clothing? I want to hear about it!
PS: The jeans I’m wearing (my favorites) are 30% off along with other J Brand Favorites until 1/20! Hurry Hurry!
Love what you said about styling trends for all body types. It can be very frustrating when it seems as if certain trends are molded for certain shapes and sizes. Love your blog & your attitude towards fashion! xx
Love the jacket and love your ideas on how to style it. I adore these Jeans but am so hesitant to fork over a bunch of money for distressed jeans. Anybody else with me on this one?
Just found your blog on instagram and I absolutely love all of your outfits! You look like a rockstar.
Love your coat!! Great look.

So 3.5 isn't a real body type either? I understand the sentiment however skinny body types are indeed real body types too.
