Drinks with Devon: Jalapeño Margaritas

I’m excited to bring a new series to Devon Rachel called Drinks with Devon. As you all know, I am obsessed with everything about bar carts (the cart, people, not the alcohol!). I may not love to cook (yet) but I do love to make a pretty drink. That I can handle! In this every other Friday (as of now) series, I will try out recipes and share my experience making the drinks. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start making my own drink recipes! Let’s get started with a twist on a favorite drink, the Jalapeño Margarita.
My husband Chandler loves anything and everything jalapeño , so when I found this recipe for Jalapeño Margaritas on Love and Lemons, I knew I had to try it out. I’m a fan of jalapeños, just not in as much abundance as Chandler. This recipe is great because we can mix in as much or as little jalapeño tequila as we want. I love to have options! This is my kind of recipe.

We made a few drinks for Superbowl Sunday and they were a hit! I will definitely be adding the recipe to my collection.

Jalapeño Margaritas

Serves 1 pitcher

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (plain) tequila
  • 1 cup Grand Marnier
  • 1.5 cups fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup simple syrup (or sub agave syrup to taste)
  • ice
  • lime & jalapeño slices for garnish
  • salt for the glasses (optional)
  • jalapeño infused tequila:
  • 1 cup tequila
  • ½ a sliced jalapeño

Instructions:

1. Make the jalapeño tequila. Add the jalapeño to the tequila and let it sit at room temp for a few hours. You can leave this for up to a day.

2. Remove jalapeños and pour into a small serving glass. Serve on the side so guests can add as much or little spice as they like.

3. Mix together the margarita ingredients.

4. Add a few drops of the spicy tequila, to taste, to finished margaritas. This is extremely spicy, so start with less and add more as you go.
