Drinks (and Treats) With Devon: 4th of July Edition

Happy almost 4th of July, everyone! With all of the fun parties and events coming up for the big day, I wanted to share a few things I’m putting together for our family who are visiting from Texas. In this special Drinks with Devon, I’m throwing a few 4th of July treats into the mix that – let me tell you – are some of the easiest things to throw together by Saturday’s festivities!

I first hit up World Market where I found tons of 4th of July goodies on a great sale. Stocked up.

Fun Fruit Kabobs

I made these fun little fruit kabobs so quickly! Simply cut out star shapes of watermelon and place on skewer stick after two blueberries ( or however you desire to style it).

ingredients:

Watermelon
Blueberries
Skewer Sticks
Star Cookie cutter

Baby you’re a star! I absolutely LIVE for Rice Krispies Treats, so I whipped up a batch of my favorite recipe (and it’s easy), used a cookie cutter to cut star shapes and had fun decorating.

Rice Krispies Recipe

  • ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups JET-PUFFED Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
directions:
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.

Not Your Mother’s Ice Cream Sandwich

This is such an easy one, you guys. Jazz up your average ice cream sandwich with a little sprinkle action! I decided to cut mine in half first before adding sprinkles, but you can do whatever you want! Extremely easy and you’ll look way cool. You’re welcome!

4th of July Boozy Popsicles
These 4th of July Boozy Popsicles are perfection! They didn’t turn out as perfect as I planned (I’m working on my cooking skills, ya’ll), but the are seriously delicious and perfect in their own little way. Check out the recipe from Brit & Co as this is a little more difficult than my other treats. It is so worth it, though!
Happy 4th Everyone! Stay safe and have a blast! 🙂
