Current Beauty Favorites

I’ve talked about my life long love affair with makeup and beauty products before – growing up a competitive dancer, I was constantly reapplying. And after working in Nordstrom’s Savvy department next to MAC in High School, I was smoky eye blending like a pro (well, you know) and had a mental notebook full of tips and tricks from the MAC artists. Oh, those were the days: sell a little clothes, sit in the makeup chair and play in products on my breaks (and during downtime, hehe). Anyways, my point is that I’m constantly switching up my makeup routine and trying new things – I’m going to really try to share more about it all with you guys. Here and snapchat!
Before I even get started, I wanted to let you guys know this post is in no way sponsored – I use a LOT of Charlotte Tilbury and it’s because I honestly love the line so so much. I am very particular about my makeup and I’ve literally tried and bought nearly every product from CT. Today I’ll share some of my current must haves in the makeup department and how I apply for a cohesive look that will take you from summer to fall.

eyeshadow. My signature look a is a rust colored smoky eye, so I’m always on the hunt for different variations for day, night etc. And you guys, I’ve found the golden nugget of shadow palettes in this Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Shadow The Dolce Vita quad. I typically start with the lightest shadow as a base, blend the rust color on the lid, sweep the brown in the outer corners for definition and last but certainly not least, I finish with the sparkly rust color all over the lid. This is my favorite part. I cannot tell you how many compliments I’ve received from this glittery goodness. For daytime, I’ll lighten the look in each step by using less shadow or I start with the base, lightly sweep a bit of the rust color in the crease and lastly the sparkles. Heck, I even wear the glittery shadow alone on occasion! Either way, you’ll love it. I promise. Oh, and I start with my eyeshadow first before EVERYTHING. That way I can wipe away my mess. 🙂

foundation. I will say, I have drastically changed the amount of days I wear foundation in the past few years. On most days, I’ll just throw on Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer and Charlotte Tilbury concealer and be done with it. But there are definitely times when I want a bit more coverage without feeling cakey and heavy. Charlotte Tilbury (surprise) makes one of my favorite foundations ever! I apply the Light Wonder Youth Boosting Foundation in 5 with a Sigma 3D Kabuki brush and blend with my beauty blender. Not going to lie, I always have two shades of each foundation I like – one for when I’m pale, one for when I’m tan. 🙂 For the record, I switch between shades 4 and 5 of CT.

eyeliner. I used to lather on black liner every single day. Looking back, I’m like were you going to the club? My goodness. Heavy black liner every day with my eye shape etc. just wasn’t cute. I’ve learned a brown or deep eggplant or burgundy is the most flattering option. When I’m not using my Stila liner in Damsel, I’m using this Charlotte Tilbury liner in ‘Sophia‘, but I also love it in the color ‘Audrey‘. This liner is actually perfect for doing the small cat eye flick at the end. Oh, and for daytime, I often line the eyes before applying eyeshadow.

cream contour. I somewhat recently converted to the cream contour way of life and I must say it’s better on this side. You have much more control using cream based instead of powder, and the funny thing is people view it completely opposite. I can totally see how it can be intimidating – but it’s as easy as coloring lines with your finger (or a brush) and blending with a beauty blender. I’m loving Anastasia’s palette in light and I use pretty much every shade (as you can see by the mess).
blush. When I’m not bringing back Nars’ Orgasm blush (I missed it!), I’m layering Charlotte Tilbury’s in ‘Love Is The Drug‘. And naturally, every one of her blushes are gorgeous and layer so well.
brushes. I have so many makeup brushes, but I’m currently really loving  Sigma’s brush kit. The high quality set is perfect for anyone who wants to upgrade to a more professional grade (but not scary, I promise!).

lipstick. Last but not least, I have a new favorite lipstick color you need to try – Amazing Grace by Charlotte Tilbury. The color is a very wearable red/coral and perfect for everyday looks. I’m also obsessed with Bite Beauty’s color MeritageBobbi Brown art sticks and Buxom lip plumping gloss in Mudslide.
Always set with SKII spray

eyebrows. My waxer, Rebecca, who also plucks several big time celebs’ brows, started a line of eyebrow grooming products and they are THE cutest. They make the best gifts and the quality is excellent. I love how each pair of tweezers says hilarious sayings and comes with a cute little compact for travel. You can snag a pair on her website, Secret Service Beauty.
