How To Wear Culottes

Culottes are a big favorite in my book and there’s a common misconception: you have to be tall like me to wear them. Soooo wrong. It’s all about finding a pair that fits your every curve perfectly and a great shoe option to tie it all together. Lately, I’ve found a TON of chic and cute culottes, so I wanted to share how I typically style them, tips for rocking a pair of your own, + my picks of course. Oh, and at every price range! Be sure to scroll down and check it out. 🙂

I wore these white culottes from Need Supply to a show during NYFW and I have to say it was the comfiest of my looks.
My Culotte Wearing Tips:
TIP 1: If you are short, wear nude, elongating heels with the pant. My personal favorite style of shoe for culottes is the slip on mules
TIP 2: If you are tall, dare to mix in a cool sneaker like Adidas etc.
TIP 3: For a slimming effect, try a monochromatic look (matching your top and bottom). This look is always chic and seriously makes you look thinner.
TIP 4: If you are self conscious about your bottom half, I would look for a culottes in darker colors or denim. Be sure to pair with a nude shoe (can be any type of heel/flat) to elongate the leg line. If you are also on the shorter side, I would definitely stick to heels with this look – a block heel, strappy nude heel, even a mid sized heel is totally fine. Just play around with it and take photos in the mirror (or better yet, have someone else take one). It will help to ensure the pant is as flattering as possible.

  1. Tip 1 and 4 apply to me haha. I didn't know I was doing the whole dark colours on bottom thing until I really took a look at my wardrobe. Maybe it was a subconscious effort to not draw too much attention to my fuller hips and thighs.
