Easy Chic Fall Home Decor

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about festive holiday decor- I just don’t like cheesy festive. I’ve become really particular about the way everything looks for each holiday- if I’m not careful I’ll go overboard and sh*t will be everywhere. And nobody got time for that. In my opinion, there are so many cheesy ways to do a pumpkin and this year I didn’t want to just slap some paint on and call it a day.
I think there’s a subtle way to add a pumpkin touch, so I enlisted the help of the Holiday Decorating Queen herself, my Mom! She swooped in for the win with this balloon around pumpkin idea she saw in a magazine. After reading the directions from the magazine and actually doing the project, I have to say there are steps and tips not included in the article. So I thought I’d share how I did it + the rest of my fall decor today.

I originally wanted to try this out and I broke too many balloons in the process, so I ended up with one to shoot. I’ll have to share a finished look on my social channels, so keep watching on Instagram + IG Stories & Snapchat for that.

What You’ll Need:
1. Scissors
2. Cool marble, splatter, or solid balloons (get all sizes possible- small, medium and large)
3. Pumpkins of your choice. (mini, small and medium work best)

Tip: The bigger the pumpkin, the harder it will be to fit the stinking balloon around it. Just trust me. Unless you find some crazy XL balloons, stick with mini, small and medium to M/L sized pumpkins.

Step 1: Stretch out your balloons.
Pull a part and blow up your balloon as big as it will inflate.

Step 2: Once you’ve stretched the balloon, cut around 1-2 inches off the spout of the balloon. I suggest playing around with this on a tester balloon to get a good size cut- it can be as even or curved as you want! That’s the best part.

Step 3: I had to enlist my husband to help with this part. It’s easier if you have two hands: one person stretching the balloon over the sides of the pumpkin and one person holding one side. Trust me. After MANY failed attempts at this, we decided it’s a 2 person job.
IDK if we’re just crazy or what – let me know if it’s as hard for you!

Step 4: Place the balloon in the position you’re wanting – I like it half way up!

And I had no idea how many different types of balloons they make these days – seriously you guys. You can get really fun creative with this one! I say even after Halloween if the colors are right! I’d even throw a few on a Thanksgiving Table-scape! Let me know if you try it šŸ™‚

Other than my little DIY project, I simply threw out  bowls of candy corn (super easy and cute) and lined our front door and porch with the character (so ugly they’re so cute) pumpkins in white, green and light orange. The uglier the better in my book! How are you guys decorating for fall? Let me know in the comments below šŸ™‚

  1. Great blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?
Iā€™m hoping to start my own blog soon but Iā€™m a little lost on everything.
Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many options out there that Iā€™m totally overwhelmed .. Any tips? Many thanks!
