House of Po Giveaway!

Well, its that time again everyone! This week’s giveaway comes all the way from Finland! House of Po is a fantastic and eclectic jewelry shop owned by the lovely Salla Poutiainen. Her artistic and unique approach to jewelry design is simply unlike any other! You all know how much I love color, so when I saw her necklaces I instantly fell in love! I’m sporting her over-the-top “Big Pearl Necklace” and I love the overstated look, remember: more is more!
This week there will be two winners– thats right! Two lucky readers will win one of these great necklaces– perfect for any season and print!

(Old Navy blouse, Vintage skirt, C. Luce Jacket, Forever 21 bag, ChiChiLove bracelet (c/o), H&M necklace, House of Po necklace (c/o), David Yurman bracelet, Zigi Soho shoes, Karen Walker sunnies)
Basically, I’m in love with her designs and I know you guys will love them, too!
I chatted a bit with Salla to get to know her and House of Po:

1) How long have you had your shop, House of Po?

Not long, I’ve only been active with my Etsy shop for couple of months so I’m still a complete rookie when it comes to commercializing my creations.

2) What do you look for in a piece for your shop (during creating or buying) ?

My goal is to create pieces that are both interesting and aesthetic with their color and texture combinations.

3) What inspires you to do what you do?

Everything around me really. Crafting and the creative process has always been for me an attempt to shape and understand myself and the world we exist in. I begin my creative adventures by scavenging inspiring materials from flea markets, dumpsters and from nature. Simultaneously, I take photographs of interesting textures, objects and light effects. My creative process is extremely nonlinear, chaotic and time consuming, but above all a very exciting journey to the world of different materials, forms and phenomena.

4) I love the fun colors of your pieces. Was there a particular reason you decided to use such vibrant hues?

I work with two collections under my label, Au and Ag. My first Au collection ‘Fool’s Gold‘ dealt with metamorphosis and change. The atmosphere and hues of the collection were very tranquil and dark, so to shake things up, I wanted to take a different approach with the Ag collection. The first collection ‘Vigilantes‘ was inspired by the kitschy universe of super heroes and to fit the theme I wanted to offer pieces with a real splash of color and energy.

5) Which piece is your favorite from your collection and why?

It varies, usually it’s the most recent piece I’ve created. At the moment it’s my mint green pearl necklace:
