If you read my blog on a regular basis, you’d know that I’m always trying to add dresses to my wardrobe. For some strange reason I naturally steer away from dresses, which is totally bazaar being that I’m a complete girly girl. I think it’s the fact that dresses can be harder to make into a completely different outfit. I’m just a separates kind of girl. I like options! But I also love a challenge, so I’m getting creative with ways to wear dresses in order to justify adding more to the closet of doom (it’s just reeeeally full).
One of my favorite places to snag designer layering pieces at a fraction of the cost is T.J.Maxx. I know you guys have seen my overload of fabulous finds on instagram. News flash: they are killing it right now with designer goodies for fall! Perfect timing. Fall is the ultimate layering season. I mention layering because it’s a surefire way to mix up dresses. I’m talking chambray button downs as jackets, or worn underneath the dress (like I did this fabulous blouse from T.J.Maxx), blazers and belts, the list goes on and on. I’m constantly thinking of different outfit combinations in my head, even though some obviously do not translate in real life (don’t you hate that?). It’s all about trying it on. I know, trying on sucks. The next time you’re bored at night, get your behind off that couch and into your closet to make outfits. This goes for all types of layering! Fall is just the ultimate layering season.

Maybe you love dresses and buy zillions of them. Okay, that’s totally fine. Get outside your box and layer, too! If nothing else you’ll have 5 more outfits… hello, I should not have to say anything about that. Golden!

I don't wear dresses that often either, partially because it's so cold in SF most of the time! I recently picked up an eyelash curler at TJMaxx to try too, it was only like $3 and I needed a new one. Turns out, it's the best one I've ever had!!
It's funny, I relate so much to your style, but I'm the total opposite, dresses over skirts! Not sure why…maybe it's the tucking. I also have those same cole Haan booties, in black. I actually wore them today and decided they're literally the perfect all day height for me, so comfortable!
Dresses sound so fussy but they're actually the comfiest and easiest outfits! I love that you layered a button-up under yours and that coat is to-die-for Devon.
