Retro Glam Glitzmas

Ornaments from: World Market, Homegoods, Michael’s, & The Little Market
I’ve always loved decorating for parties, holidays, etc. Give me a theme and I will run with it! I grew up with elaborate decor displays (by my amazing momma, Sheri) throughout our family home, so it’s no wonder the decor bug stuck with me. Last Christmas I started a series that would take you guys into my home to see how I decorate for each Holiday and share tips on how to make your space fabulous for every season. I’m prepping for my Christmas shoot as well as a fun video for Glitter Guide, and I thought I would give you a little sneak peek into my inspiration, and the process so far. As you can tell, the theme is fun and quirky (duh) with a touch of girly: Retro Glam Glitzmas. I figured it would be my last year to do a girly theme (yay– I’ll be living with my new husband next year!) so I ran with it, naturally.

I’m so beyond proud of my dear friend Monika, who just launched an amazing online boutique. She has the most fabulous eye for fashion and decor, and the home totally reflects her great taste. I knew it would be great, but she totally blew me away! Check out Monika’s new store, Shop By Monika. Oh, and check out her feature on Glitter Guide— it was by far the cutest thing ever.
I found these feather trees at Homegoods and I snatched the last 3 on the shelves. Greedy, sorry. I had to have them! And for less than $20 each, obviously I didn’t think twice.
I pulled out this sequin pillow from my pillow hoarding stash (don’t judge). I got it years ago at Target, and haven’t used it in a while. I thought it looked pretty cute in my ghost chair from Lulu & Georgia, so I’ll keep it out this season.

Last but certainly not least, my sweet Stella. She was sitting in a beyond cute position last night as I was working on styling some areas of my home. I set this tray on my bed for a minute and she plopped right in. I was glad she stayed still for the two seconds I needed to take the picture. Cats are not like dogs. It is not easy to get them to cooperate when they see a shiny object in the distance, or a squirrel.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for my big Christmas decor post. It’s going to be big, because you know what I always say. Go big or go home, baby!

  1. I love all these snapshots, and I'm pretty sure the end result of your Christmas decorating process will be beyond fabulous! I always love getting to peek into other people's homes (I'm just nosy like that :), and since I stumbled upon your feature on Glitter Guide earlier today, I'm pretty much obsessed 🙂 I LOVE your green sofa and your gallery wall!
PS: Stella has great taste, really! 🙂

  2. These ornaments are so adorable. Pretty. I'm so excited for this magical time of the year and i can't wait to decorate my home. Last year everything on the decoration was red and white and this year I decide to made the decoration in the color white, silver and gold. I think this turns out amazing.
    Great post Devon.
    Wish you a great day.
