First step in my organizing process? Oh… the closet. This is a very, very close place in my heart. Obviously! And I would typically say to designate a room for such a wonderful place, but let’s be honest, that isn’t the most realistic option. So I decided to break the steps I’m taking down, and research a few next steps to help get this process started.
While you’re at it, have a neighborhood garage sale. Chances are, your neighbs are dealing with the same over expanding closet issues. Put your stacks together and set up a fun garage sale. It will obviously be way more fun with your friends, too!
Here’s a closet organizing checklist to help you through it!
Hire a professional organizer. Believe it or not, there are people skilled in the art of getting you organized. Beth of Bneato Bar is my organizer of choice and in the coming months she will take me through several processes to clean this girl’s life up. I have completed the first meeting with Beth and I can say that I highly recommend her already!
Fold your sweaters! I feel like this is the most common mistake in everyone’s closet. Sweaters are meant to be folded. The longer you leave them hanging, the worse their shape will morph! The best thing for your sweaters and sweatshirts is to fold them into organized stacks. This will free up some hanging space, too!
Create your own custom closet. If you want to completely give your closet a face lift and have the space for customized products, check out an online ordering system. There are Multiple websites dedicated to helping you build your own customized closet like Easy Closets and Closet Maid.
Now get to work! 🙂
This is what I need to do too:P

For a second i thought this was your closet and I was going to be SUPER envious and jealous. Love these tips. I'm in the process of purging and organizing my linen and storage closet. House is WAY too small to let stuff pile up!
