You may have seen on my Instagram last week, the Home Goods gods (woah, say that one 4 times fast) shined on me and brought me this ah-ma-zing gold bar cart. I’ve been searching for a reasonably priced and preferably gold bar cart for what seems like forever. You know that moment when you finally find what you’ve been looking for… and it’s always when you absolutely least expect it? This was one of those moments. Much like love, the perfect home decor pieces find you at times like this.
Needless to say, it didn’t take me much time to decide she had to come home with me. And then I took a stroll to the pillow and mirror sections…..
Once I brought my bar cart home, I immediately moved my previous tray and started styling. It’s taken a few switcharoos to get it right, but I’m satisfied with how it turned out (for the moment). Like I always say, home decor is never done. So let’s get styling.
First and foremost when styling your bar cart, remember to be true to your style and taste. Add fun, quirky accents that mean something to you. For example, if you aren’t throwing huge parties every weekend, use the bottom shelf to display pretty books, purses, etc.
It’s all in the details. I like to have flowers displayed somewhere on my cart at all times. This adds a pop of color and fun. I also love fun straws and decanters.
Like I said earlier, make the bar cart your own. I don’t host huge parties on a regular basis, so as of right now I don’t need to use my bottom shelf for glassware storage. Instead, I display my pretty coffee table books and my Chanel. Which is decor in itself!
Displaying fake (yep, I said it!) limes is one way I decorate my cart. Design elements like this can get expensive if you’re using real fruit. And I love the idea of limes being on my cart all the time, so I found these limes at Home Goods and I think they bring a major cute-factor to the cart.
Obviously, display your favorite alcohol so it will always be ready when needed. Use colorful books to lift objects and balance the space. I’ve also seen books used to lift/display glassware. That’s something to try!
Get creative with your bottom shelf (if there is one). I eventually would like to change this up and better utilize the space for storage, but for now I like my books and bag.
Find glassware you love and display them around straws, pretty napkins and a shaker (or ice bucket if you have it). My ‘LOL’ plate from Pottery Barn is one of my favorite accessories, so I thought it would be perfect for a bar cart. These design elements really make the bar cart shine and actually useful (which is the point, right?).
